Kulturspiegel: April 28, 2013: Maerchen als Erkenntnishilfe

Gespraeche im Cafe, Thema Maerchen als Erkenntnishilfe

In today’s show Susanne Nielsen and her colleague, journalist Renate Schauer discuss the importance of fairy-tales for the building of moral values such as truth, love, honor, and justice. Children especially need to know that they will be protected by all that is good and that their hope for justice can be trusted. As adults living by the moral codes of law they strive to uphold these values and yet, realize the limitations of such a promise. Susanne and Renate hope you think back to your own childhood fairy-tales and their impact they had.

Was macht mein Reh?

Leipzigs "Ring" an der Metropolitan Opera in New York!

Lincoln Center, Metropolitan Opera

In today's show Susanne Nielsen has a conversation at a 2012 reception for the New York Thomas Church's Boys' and Men's Choir. The Choir, especially the boys, were very excited to be off on a tour of Europe in June of last year, 2012, where they would sing Bach. For the city of Leipzig, though,  preparations were just beginning for the events this May 2013 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Richard Wagner’s birthday. The famous composer was born in Leipzig.
And the man responsible for all the events , Thomas Krakow was in New York to see the Met’s performances of the new “Ring”-cycle,  Leipzig’s production brought to the US. This production continues in New York this Spring and the Wagner Society offers week-long events as well.
Thomas Krakow was very happy to speak with Susanne about his city's other favorite son. As a small encore, Susanne Nielsen also spoke with classical pianist Peter Roesel about his city's relationship with the famous composer Richard Wagner. Dresden is also a Wagner City.

                                      Ein Leipziger besucht New York

Juni 2012 in Leipzig singen.

Wagner in Dresden: Pianist Peter Roesel erzaehlt:

Wagners.
Er zog spaeter wieder mit seiner Frau Minna He eventually returned to Dresden with his wife, Minna, zu der Premiere seiner Oper.
